hurricane Alex raging across Texas, Mexico coasts

Hurricane Alex causes landfall as it reaches northeastern Mexico. The Category two storm has been whipping up winds of 155 kilometres per hour. Earlier a state of emergency had been declared in Texas where thousands of people were forced to flee from coastal homes. The storm is far from the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, but cleanup operations have been halted.
