hurricane Alex raging across Texas, Mexico coasts
Hurricane Alex causes landfall as it reaches northeastern Mexico. The Category two storm has been whipping up winds of 155 kilometres per hour. Earlier a state of emergency had been declared in Texas where thousands of people were forced to flee from coastal homes. The storm is far from the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, but cleanup operations have been halted.
HURRICANE ALEX IN MONTERREY
Monterrey is Mexico's third largest city.
Mexico's President has declared Monterrey a disaster area.
Cars, roads, bridges and even residents have swept away in this catastrophe.
It is expected to take 6 months for just the cleaning operations and at least two years for reconstruction.
The storm damage from Hurricane Alex didn't seem to make much international news.
